How to use
PREPARATION
Drain and clean the spa’s surfaces and spa filter with the appropriate products. Refill the spa with fresh water. Check the literature that came with your spa to determine volume. Take a sample of your fill water to your dealer and have it tested for calcium hardness. Keep a record of it for future use.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The heater should be off before the addition of SunGuard Spa pH Secure and remain off until any cloudiness has been cleared by filtration. If dissolved calcium is present in your water, the water softening action of SunGuard Spa pH Secure will cause the calcium to precipitate, allowing your filter to remove it. The water may cloud when the product is first added, indicating that SunGuard Spa pH Secure is working to remove excess calcium. If clouding occurs, operate the spa for 24 hours, then remove cartridge filter(s) and rinse with a strong stream of water from your garden hose. Sand or D.E. filters should be backwashed and re-coated in the case of DE.
APPLICATION
Add 1 quart (32 oz.) of SunGuard Spa pH Secure per 300 to 500 gallons of spa water by pouring it into the spa with the pump on but with the heater off. If calcium hardness exceeds 160 ppm a total of 2 quarts of pH SECURE will be needed per 300-500 gallons of spa water (See NOTE below). If the pH of the fill water is above 7.6 and the total alkalinity is above 150 ppm, it may be necessary to add pH Decreaser to lower the pH to 7.4. This procedure is only necessary when both the pH and total alkalinity are high.
NOTE: In spas with calcium hardness higher than 160 ppm, add the first quart of SunGuard Spa pH Secure, operate the spa for 24 hours, and then clean the filter. Then add the second quart of pH Secure and operate the spa again for 24 hours. If the filter pressure increases more than 9-10 psi, clean the filter once again.
